Rui Horta

Rui Horta is a Portuguese lawyer and a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since 2001 (Professional ID No. 195-F). He graduated in Law in 1998, undertook postgraduate studies in Private Contract Law, and completed a postgraduate qualification in Real Estate Law in 2018. He is the founding partner of the firm and has over 25 years of experience advising Portuguese and international clients on a broad range of legal matters, with particular emphasis on real estate transactions and property investment in Portugal. His main areas of practice include Real Estate Law, Property Conveyancing, Business and Corporate Law, Urban Planning Law, Civil Law, Tax Law, and Family Law. Rui Horta has played an active role within the Portuguese Bar Association, serving as President of the Tavira Delegation before being elected to the Regional Council of Faro of the Portuguese Bar Association, where he served as a Member during the 2020–2022 term. Alongside his legal practice, he has served as a Member of the Tavira Municipal Assembly from 1998 to 2013 and again since 2015. He also served as a Member of the Supervisory Board of Caixa de Crédito Agrícola Mútuo do Sotavento Algarvio, CRL (Caixa Agrícola de Tavira), contributing to the supervisory functions of the cooperative banking institution. Since 2017, Rui Horta has served as Honorary Consul of Sweden in the Algarve (Tavira). In recognition of his services in the exercise of his consular duties, he was awarded the Royal Order of the Polar Star by the Kingdom of Sweden. He is a member of the Rotary Club , where he has held several leadership positions and is a Paul Harris Fellow. Throughout his career, he has also served in a number of positions within private organisations and companies, broadening his experience in corporate governance and institutional affairs. Rui has a longstanding interest in environmental protection, nature conservation, and social causes, and has supported a range of civic and community initiatives over the years. Rui is fluent in English and is also able to assist clients in French and Spanish.
